Ingredients
- Fresh mushrooms (cremini or button)
- Garlic (fresh cloves)
- Sourdough or whole wheat bread
- Gruyère or sharp cheddar cheese
- Unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Sauté sliced mushrooms and minced garlic in butter over medium heat until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- In a skillet, place one slice of bread (butter-side down), layer half the cheese, add sautéed mushrooms, then top with remaining cheese and another slice of bread (butter-side up).
- Grill until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice in half, and enjoy warm.
