- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and slice potatoes into thin rounds; rinse under cold water.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, season with salt, pepper, and half of the sautéed onions.
- Pour half the cream over the layer and sprinkle half the cheese on top.
- Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
