  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chopped toasted pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round baking pans with butter and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture alternately with milk into the wet mixture until fully combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  6. Once cooled, layer the cakes on a serving plate, drizzling caramel sauce between layers and topping with chopped pecans.
