Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup pecans (toasted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture while alternating with milk until smooth.
  4. Incorporate eggs one at a time while mixing until well combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While the cakes cool, heat the caramel sauce on low until pourable and stir in pecans.
  7. Once cooled, place one cake layer on a platter, pour half of the caramel-pecan mixture over it, then top with the second layer.
