  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp food coloring (optional for vibrancy)
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, combine red velvet cake mix, melted butter, eggs, water, and food coloring until smooth.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  4. For the cheesecake layer, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla; mix until silky.
  5. Pour cheesecake batter into a greased springform pan and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 50-60 minutes until slightly jiggly in the center.
